BE YOURSELF

BE YOU
Every once in a while, we come across people who are far away from who they originally are, they have become photocopies, or prototypes and I dare say even counterfeits of themselves…its amazing how one can move away from one’s true self and very quickly too. People have become imitators of others; people they call mentors, celebrities, their parents or siblings, friends and even random individuals, all in the bid to be accepted or something like that.

With this beautiful age of social media with Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc and reality shows, people have easy and unrestricted access to people’s ‘fake’ lives whether private or public and as you constantly feast on these shows and these profiles in the name of entertainment or keeping up with trends you start to change. You begin to subtly accept and agree with their ways, start to think like them and eventually begin to act like them. It may take a while because it’s a gradual process but it surely will happen and even though you say “I only watch their shows, or follow them on Instagram…” your actions and gestures now become like theirs…funny right?!

Your mind has agreed to their way of life and is sending that continuous information to your heart which in turn accepts it as the norm and prompts your actions to portray the new ‘stuff’ it just downloaded into your heart.

So people, stop limiting yourself by imitating people, you are different! Be YOU, be yourself…the world is a better place with you being YOU! Variety is the spice of life abi, so please don’t deny the world of your spice because there would be a huge void if you are not doing you. Don't hold back your smile or loud and hearty laughter, your attention to detail, your zeal to coordinate and plan, your quietness...don't hold back your spice!

Being you means…
  • Be who God wants you to be, who he has designed you to be (so you have to find that out from Him…it’s an amazing thing to know who God has made you to be.)
  • Don’t be afraid to be different; different is great!
  • Be sure to express your personality constantly and be unashamed about it.
  • Don’t let people put you down and say you are weird only because you are being you.
  • When you are not sure how to be you (because I think there could be such times) go back into the God’s word and rediscover yourself in Christ James 1:21-25.
  • You are accountable to God; be conscious of being led by him!
  • God is love, God lives in you, you are one with Christ, YOU are love! Show love, have compassion on people and don’t be so mean even when people are wrong. Be considerate, be passionate.
  • Be you and do you! Constantly.

CHANCE OR NOT

Ludo is quite an interesting game for me. I like it because I can think through and be strategic about my moves before making them and I can quickly recover from an opponent’s hard hit and make a comeback. Some say it’s a game of chance that can only be decided by a throw of the dice but then again, life hands us things sometimes that we must make the best out of. So this is my story… I was playing ludo with someone recently and the winner would be decided after five rounds of the game, so I cracked my knuckles, rolled up my sleeves, mentally psyched myself and thought “easy peasy, she can’t even stand my skills; I GAT THIS!!” So we started to play and yours truly was waving her bragging rights high in the sky like a banner for an upcoming election.
