Ludo is quite an interesting game for me. I like it because
I can think through and be strategic about my moves before making them and I can
quickly recover from an opponent’s hard hit and make a comeback. Some say it’s
a game of chance that can only be decided by a throw of the dice but then
again, life hands us things sometimes that we must make the best out of.
So this is my story…
I was playing ludo with someone recently and the winner
would be decided after five rounds of the game, so I cracked my knuckles,
rolled up my sleeves, mentally psyched myself and thought “easy peasy, she
can’t even stand my skills; I GAT THIS!!”
So we started to play and yours truly was waving her
bragging rights high in the sky like a banner for an upcoming election. The
game was going in my favour… omo* I was on fire! Move after move, I frustrated
all her efforts with my well thought out moves, my skills and years of
experience playing the game. The score was now 4:1 and I was on my way to make
a crowd cheering home-run or so I thought!
Then I spoke up, rubbing in her defeat, and said “There’s no
way you can win this game except by the grace of God!” She heard me and
suddenly lights up and said “…so watch grace at work!”
OOPS!!
Did I just set myself up with God's grace? Anyway, let's be watching (reading)...
She didn’t seem to know what she was doing but move after
move (call it fluke) she sent me hard blows to my gut that made me scream from
my inside and hard as I tried to retaliate, it wasn’t working.
The scores changed… and kept changing.
We played four more rounds and she won the game from 4:1 to
4:5!
This taught me a lesson…more than I thought I knew,
Don’t hesitate to apply the Grace of God to any situation. The
grace of God is acknowledging what Jesus did for us on the cross and receiving
the benefits of that ‘arrangement’. If God showed up on my friend’s behalf in
a Ludo game then guess what he can do with your life if you bring him in.
You might not seem to know what you’re doing with your life
but I assure you, move after move – as you follow the promptings of your heart –
He’ll make your way prosperous and give you good success.
Gen 24:48 And I bowed down my head, and
worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had
led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.
Deu 8:18 But thou shalt remember the
LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth
thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware
unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Skill, planning, strategy are great but yield all that to
God and watch what He does with them…you’ll be amazed at the results. Allow God lead you this year!
"God’s grace is enough for in this year multiples doors of grace are set before you." - Rev. Arome Adah.
Don’t be like me!
Be like my friend!
And yes…I renounced my bragging rights for Ludo and I’m
yielding to God and following my heart to make my moves, both in Ludo, Chess, monopoly
and in real life.
Happy New year Precious People!
