PRINCESS AMY


She ran towards me and gave me a big hug and held on for long and with smiles she said ‘Aunty, I made a presentation in church today and I want to tell you all about it’
‘Oh really, that’s great. Let’s go into the house first then we’ll chat.’
She’s an adorable, six year old young lady with the love of God and her family in her heart.
Looking at her and being around her opens my eyes to the love God has for us as his children and the reason Hebrews 13: 5-6 says that he will never leave us nor forsake us.
      Heb 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
      Heb 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
It is because God loves us unconditionally, without end and He loves doing good things for us. Isn’t that how we love our own children and want to do all that we can for them?
Children are totally dependent on their parents and they are unapologetic about it, they even brag about it with their mates saying ‘my mummy did this, my daddy bought me that…’ and so on; they are proud to have parents!
Do you notice how they ask for things from their parents? With clear authority and not mincing words, they don’t care if you have not been paid salary or if you need to rob a bank to get them what they want; they simply believe in you and trust that you’ll give them their desires. It’s this childlike confidence that I believe God wants us to have with him founded on his unending love for us.
Jesus said we should be like the little ones (Matthew 18:1-6); quick to believe, quick to act or yield, quick to forgive and receive forgiveness, filled with love; no hate, no malice, no strife.
        Mat 18:1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
        Mat 18:2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
        Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
        Mat 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
        Mat 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
        Mat 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the         sea.

I love their boundless energy as they move around so full of life and love; you look at them and thank God for their little feet, fingers and voices that move around and fill your home and heart with gladness…then you smile! That’s the same way God rejoices over us all the time, especially when we exhibit these childlike traits in life and the things of God…Zephaniah 3:17.
“My presentation was a verse from the Bible, Romans 5 verse 1: therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
“Wow, you said that in front of the whole class?”
“Yes”
“Wonderful, I’m so proud of you my Princess” I hugged her
“Do you know what that verse means?”
“Ermmm…yes, it means we have peace with God…it means that God is not angry with us”
In amazement I said “really? Do you know why God is not angry with us?”
And she said “yes, because of Jesus, because Jesus died for us, God is not angry with us again.”
This answer brought tears to my eyes; that my niece of 6 going on 7 somehow knew that because of Christ we have peace with God and he is no longer angry with us. I hugged her tightly and reassured her that all our sins are forgiven and God is truly not angry with us; both believers and unbelievers, all he has for us is unconditional everlasting love. This brought many more questions from her about God and his love and I gladly obliged her with easy responses from God’s word not coated with doctrines or my own experiences.
In between our conversation, she showed me her Barbie doll and how she styled her doll’s hair into a bun and she promised to do the same style for me after I’ve had lunch.

BE YOURSELF

BE YOU Every once in a while, we come across people who are far away from who they originally are, they have become photocopies, or prototypes and I dare say even counterfeits of themselves…its amazing how one can move away from one’s true self and very quickly too. People have become imitators of others; people they call mentors, celebrities, their parents or siblings, friends and even random individuals, all in the bid to be accepted or something like that. With this beautiful age of social media with Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat etc and reality shows, people have easy and unrestricted access to people’s ‘fake’ lives whether private or public and as you constantly feast on these shows and these profiles in the name of entertainment or keeping up with trends you start to change. You begin to subtly accept and agree with their ways, start to think like them and eventually begin to act like them. CHANCE OR NOT

Ludo is quite an interesting game for me. I like it because I can think through and be strategic about my moves before making them and I can quickly recover from an opponent’s hard hit and make a comeback. Some say it’s a game of chance that can only be decided by a throw of the dice but then again, life hands us things sometimes that we must make the best out of. So this is my story… I was playing ludo with someone recently and the winner would be decided after five rounds of the game, so I cracked my knuckles, rolled up my sleeves, mentally psyched myself and thought “easy peasy, she can’t even stand my skills; I GAT THIS!!” So we started to play and yours truly was waving her bragging rights high in the sky like a banner for an upcoming election.
