FIRST TIME

First timers...

There's always a first time for everything and for everyone; it is such a phenomenal thing in one's life to the extent that it marks the beginning of many things that will probably have no end; some are life changing others nerve wrecking, some are a change in lifestyle or even an adjustment to the norm...whatever it is there's always a first time!
The first time you smiled, laughed or cried you probably cannot remember or the first time you ate…lol. Your parents or guardians will remember when you took your first steps, your first word and your first favorite food before it became shawarma…lol, and they will remember most of your firsts.
Our first times can be very exhilarating or even overwhelming, like my first time of posting on the blog…it was such a big deal; going over and over my lines, the format, the content etc but I got through it and I’m better at it a few posts down the line. Some of the things I did that helped me through the process were:
-        Pray about it. I had to be sure that I needed to take that step, make that change.
-        I thought it through, weighing all the different sides to it. (Meditate and search scriptures)
-        I asked questions…lots of questions
-        Took the first step…
-        Learn all the way…no regrets!

Change should not be a difficult time in our lives as we have the ‘unchanging changer’ always with us. He said he will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5, 1 Chronicles 28:20); He is steadfast so we can lean on him through the changing times of our lives and you should be rest assured that God is on your side. They say change is constant right…guess who is with you right through the process of change – GOD! So speak with him through prayers and He’ll speak to your heart as you pray and meditate on his word.
Asking questions helps with clarity, clearing uncertainties but you must be sure that the people you are asking have like faith with you! Don’t ask a Spartan to teach you how to make the Nigerian egusi soup, ask a Nigerian and make sure it’s a Nigerian that knows how to cook it!
Take the first step…just move! As long as you have settled with Baba God that it is okay to go, just go! As you are on your way, He’ll continually lead you in the right path Genesis 24:27. Even when you fall, He’ll pick you up and put you right on track don’t regret anything…you’re led by God himself!
Anyways, we (believers) are like our father God and the Bible tells us that he is the First and the Last (Isaiah 41:4, 44:6, Revelations 22:13). God also had first times; when he created the earth, when he created man, when he issued out the 10 commandments, the first time that he died…which will actually be the last! So trust him, even with the most intimate steps you want to take He will see you through it. Don’t be afraid but believe that God loves you and with Him on your side, everything is alright! (1 John 4:16 – 19)

What was/is your most amazing #firsttime? The one you were so eager to make that you even wouldn’t wait for the day to dawn. What was your most hesitant first time? The one that all your human senses said NO to but only the nudge in your heart gave you the green light. What was your most annoying first time? Lol…this one is the type that is obvious to you but you are reluctant to make it. There are so many and I would like to hear your first time stories too as amazing or annoying as they may seem, comment below or send us an email on iamachurchgirl@gmail.com
Have an exciting day and be nice to somebody.
Cheers!

CHANCE OR NOT

Ludo is quite an interesting game for me. I like it because I can think through and be strategic about my moves before making them and I can quickly recover from an opponent’s hard hit and make a comeback. Some say it’s a game of chance that can only be decided by a throw of the dice but then again, life hands us things sometimes that we must make the best out of. So this is my story… I was playing ludo with someone recently and the winner would be decided after five rounds of the game, so I cracked my knuckles, rolled up my sleeves, mentally psyched myself and thought “easy peasy, she can’t even stand my skills; I GAT THIS!!” So we started to play and yours truly was waving her bragging rights high in the sky like a banner for an upcoming election. The game was going in my favour… omo* I was on fire! Move after move, I frustrated all her efforts with my well thought out moves, my skills and years of experience playing the game. The score was now 4:1 and I was on my

PERFECT IMPERFECTIONS

There they are, sitting bright and sunny perched delicately, waiting to be unwrapped to reveal the creamy yummy goodness that is so sweet and decadent, smoothe and cool to the touch. Yes; ripe and ready to eat bananas are fancy like that. Lol, perfect! right?! But what would you say about overripe bananas? Sitting at the back of the kitchen counter top or even closed away at the back of a kitchen cupboard; forgotten or on purpose left to grow and mature. It starts getting brighter but after a while dark brown spots and black patches begin to appear on them as they stay longer. They look off and unappealing, dark and unattractive but guess what they are still very PERFECT, discoloration and even time makes them perfect for the yummiest banana bread loafs and cakes like those from @sweetstuffkitchen. Okay okay, enough musings about bananas... FAM, don't wait to be perfect! your IMPERFECTIONS are what makes you unique, different and I dare say, PERFECT. Do not deprive humanity of your
