I'M FREE

I’M FREE My eyes opened gently as I woke to the sounds of birds chirping and the gentle buzz of the morning, such a beautiful morning and it brought the coolness of rain along with it, the rain was welcome in the unabashed presence of the consistent sun and its heat in the days prior. I woke up with some sort of reluctance to another day, my mind wandered and all I could think of was the discomfort in my chest… I WAS STUCK! I was stuck was all I could think and all that came to my, albeit, creative mind and that was all I could say. I felt stuck. Not stuck in the way of a key in a bad or dysfunctional keyhole or stuck in a way of a disobedient latch to an old forgotten box of ideas and idiosyncrasies or in how annoying it is when your finger is trapped in the neck of a bottle or even in how your flannel shirt hooks to your earring as you flipped it over your head to wear it…no, not in that way! But stuck as a traveler well on his way knowing his destination and well travel...

I CAN DO ALL

I saw this picture of a lady who was multitasking with about 6 arms doing different things at the same time, all of which required maximum attention…I must add. This picture was sent to a body of women celebrating them for their strength and multitasking abilities which in itself is amazing, and one of the ladies’ response was and I quote “several times I wished I had 6 hands then I am reminded that I am graced to do even much more…” Wow…this struck a chord in my heart and I was amazed at how we easily tilt to a picture of self aggrandizement rather that what the gospel says about us. Women in general are laden with so many responsibilities; financial, domestic, motivational and even economic responsibilities and the expectation is that they must carry out these responsibilities seamlessly without a hair out of place…looking like you waltzed out of a celebrity magazine or off the red carpet of some high profile social event. If you’re a lady reading this you might be saying ‘ ...

MRS. ROSELINE ORAH OGUCHE AKA MAMA ANKPA OR MAMA CHANNEL ONE

Hello everyone, I know it has been a while I posted on the blog and I understand that you miss me...lol, I miss you too. I have been busy with the just concluded Savannah Virtuous Ladies Convention. I truly apologize and I promise to post regularly from now on. I will also do a post on the highlights of that event...we had an amazing time in God's presence. Today makes it one year that my Grand Ma went home to be with the Lord. Words cannot express how much I miss her; all the things she did for us like sending okpehe (local seasoning), fish and herbs to us and how she took care of us. She was such an amazing woman with her gentle words and ever increasing heart, her home was and still is a haven for all kinds of people. She has three biological children but she is mother to so many that we have lost count. I'm featuring her on the blog today because she was a #churchgirl, she showed the love of God to everyone around her and was such a lover of God. I wrote this piece in ...

THANKSGIVING

Hello people, how are you all doing? I'm very certain that God has been faithful to you and there are so many things you are grateful for. Today is a glorious day and I would want you to set a specific time aside today to consciously thank God for all the amazing things that he has done for you that no other person could do for you, even the blessings and miracles that you think are "regular" or "normal" things like breathing and eating and even sleeping...not everyone can do that without aid or some form of pain. The Bible says that God rejoices over us with singing Zephanaiah 3:17 and a heart of worship that will worship him in spirit and in truth is what he seeks; so rejoice in him and worship him today. let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Today, we at churchgirlzrock.blogspot.com are thanking God for a special friend and sister. it's her birthday today and we're celebrating with her. You are truly a shining light to th...

FIRST TIME

First timers... There's always a first time for everything and for everyone; it is such a phenomenal thing in one's life to the extent that it marks the beginning of many things that will probably have no end; some are life changing others nerve wrecking, some are a change in lifestyle or even an adjustment to the norm...whatever it is there's always a first time! The first time you smiled, laughed or cried you probably cannot remember or the first time you ate…lol. Your parents or guardians will remember when you took your first steps, your first word and your first favorite food before it became shawarma…lol, and they will remember most of your firsts. Our first times can be very exhilarating or even overwhelming, like my first time of posting on the blog…it was such a big deal; going over and over my lines, the format, the content etc but I got through it and I’m better at it a few posts down the line. Some of the things I did that helped me through the proces...
