First Post

Hi everyone, it is so amazing to be writing and actually posting on the blog…finally! It’s a dream I’ve had and carried in my heart for such a long time and I’m so glad that it’s finally here.
Sometime in 2009 was the first time I thought of writing a blog but I wasn’t sure what it’ll be about and I got carried away with other things and a day job and the idea of a blog was taken off the stove and put in the freezer to cool. Then smack in 2014 I started to nurse the idea again after a prophecy was given in church and by the spirit of God we were asked to follow our hearts and write the songs, poems etc and generally yield to the promptings of our heart. It made sense for me to write!
My early teenage years met me as some sort of a tomboy…lol with the baggy shorts and trousers, ‘rap mode’ tins, hanging out with guys and sharing with them my love for cars their specs and prices….weird right? Even though it didn’t last for long, it left a mark in me; I didn’t have many girlfriends – just a few that didn’t have drama or so I thought, I generally wasn’t a ‘girly girl’ and I was cool like that…lol!
So…here I am a few years later and I’m writing a blog called churchgirlzrock.blogspot.com because over the years I have come to see girls in a different light, I finally understood that what I casually called ‘girl drama’ was indeed the uniqueness of being a girl. Girls are different in many ways and some people use the word ‘complicated’ to describe us but I’d rather say UNIQUE!
The best part of being a lady with all the ‘drama’ that comes with it is when you have someone to walk you through life, teaching, guiding, chastising and loving you all at once and all through life. It helps and somehow makes life easy when you have someone that knows you and really truly understands you…that’s what #churchgirlzrock is about. We’ll hear from ladies and some men how their deliberate love walk has changed them and how its helping them change their world…their stories, meditations, testimonies and more will be published and posted on the blog for your inspiration, edification and comfort.
I welcome you to this conversation of life and daily living of female (and some male) Christians…I welcome you to churchgirlzrock.blogspot.com!

I’m a church girl and church girls rock!!

CHANCE OR NOT

Ludo is quite an interesting game for me. I like it because I can think through and be strategic about my moves before making them and I can quickly recover from an opponent’s hard hit and make a comeback. Some say it’s a game of chance that can only be decided by a throw of the dice but then again, life hands us things sometimes that we must make the best out of. So this is my story… I was playing ludo with someone recently and the winner would be decided after five rounds of the game, so I cracked my knuckles, rolled up my sleeves, mentally psyched myself and thought “easy peasy, she can’t even stand my skills; I GAT THIS!!” So we started to play and yours truly was waving her bragging rights high in the sky like a banner for an upcoming election. The game was going in my favour… omo* I was on fire! Move after move, I frustrated all her efforts with my well thought out moves, my skills and years of experience playing the game. The score was now 4:1 and I was on my

NO INDEPENDENT THOUGHT

Are there are times when you start to think about your life, about how far you have come but not really making a head way, who you started your journey with and how far they have gone and how you have not gone that far? "Chai...what kind of suffer suffer life is this?"  "How can this even be possible? Can you imagine? We graduated together oh, 1st class sef and she's working with a multinational company, married to an amazing man with 2 well spaced kids and in all that time I can't even find me a man to call my own.'  "Why is it that I can't get a job? Am I that much of an olodo (dunce)? Every interview they will say they will get back to me but I'll never hear from them again, how will i get the experience? Is it not when i actually work? Abeg I don tire to dey try and even when I decided to follow my heart and I started doing my craft, it was as if they have banned the purchase of my products. What kind of thing is this...God what is happen

PERFECT IMPERFECTIONS

There they are, sitting bright and sunny perched delicately, waiting to be unwrapped to reveal the creamy yummy goodness that is so sweet and decadent, smoothe and cool to the touch. Yes; ripe and ready to eat bananas are fancy like that. Lol, perfect! right?! But what would you say about overripe bananas? Sitting at the back of the kitchen counter top or even closed away at the back of a kitchen cupboard; forgotten or on purpose left to grow and mature. It starts getting brighter but after a while dark brown spots and black patches begin to appear on them as they stay longer. They look off and unappealing, dark and unattractive but guess what they are still very PERFECT, discoloration and even time makes them perfect for the yummiest banana bread loafs and cakes like those from @sweetstuffkitchen. Okay okay, enough musings about bananas... FAM, don't wait to be perfect! your IMPERFECTIONS are what makes you unique, different and I dare say, PERFECT. Do not deprive humanity of your
